Obituary

Aline Reedy Strode Wood, 99, passed away peacefully in her home on September 16, 2022. She was surrounded by her family as she transitioned to her eternal home.

Aline was born in Van Buren County, TN on June 1st, 1923 to the late Wilburn and Nota Reedy. She was a homemaker who developed skills and a work ethic unmatched by most.  She gardened, canned and quilted to provide for her family.   She loved to cook and anyone who had the privilege of eating her food, loved her cooking also.  But what she treasured most was her family.  As the family matriarch, she was the glue that held the family together through seasons  of celebration and heartache, good times and bad.

She had many names:  Leenie, Sis Wood, Mama and Granny Aline to name a few.  But above all she was a child of God.  Aline loved her Lord and Savior. She was lady of strong faith who firmly believed in the power of prayer.

Aline was also a servant to her community.  Her home was a haven to everyone seeking a place to rest, a plate to eat or an ear to listen. Whatever the reason,  everyone always left feeling loved which is why so many affectionately call her Granny.

Preceding Aline's death are parents, Wilburn and Nottie Reedy; husbands John C. Strode and Carlous E. Wood; son, Elsie Strode; grandson Bricen P. H. Strode; all of her siblings, Benjamin Shockley, Ed Shockley, William H. Reedy II, J.L. Reedy, Willene Martin, Georgia Officer; and nephews Jerry Quinn, Charles E. Officer, and Leonardo White.

Aline is survived by ten children, John C. Strode Jr., Mary E. Cullom, Georgia L. Lusk (Charles), Margaret A. Grayson, Mildred R. Gist, Desaree Terry (Ricky), Alicia A. Dibrell (Terry), Rhonda K. Strode, Ronald R. Strode and Charlotte D. Elligan (Leon).

She also leaves behind 5 generations of grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a host of in-laws and dear friends.

She will be missed, but her legacy and memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 1:00pm Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Sis. Linda Cheers and Bro. Michael Harris will officiate.
