Obituary

Mr. Allen Milton Griffin, age 69 of Cookeville, a native of White County, passed away at 10:05pm Saturday, January 22, 2022 at NHC of Cookeville after an extended illness.

Milton was born May 25, 1952 in White County to the late Cliney and Bertie Dilldine Griffin. He was an electrician, plumber and carpenter. He was an avid fisherman and guitar player.  He enjoyed singing and visiting with friends and neighbors. Milton also founded and pastored Life Through the Cross Church in Sparta for four years before his health declined. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a son Shawn Patton; daughter Angela "Dillie" Griffin; grandson Bret Michael Sherman; brothers J.C., Clifford, Horace and Bill Griffin; sisters Elizabeth Navy and Rhonda Lee.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Paulette Prater Griffin

Daughters: Stephanie (David) Sherman, Tena (Jason) Stamper, Toni Crawley

Son: Justin (Candy) Griffin of Sparta

Twelve grandchildren

Sister: Hazel Walden

Brothers: Les Griffin and Melvin Griffin

A host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00am until service time at Hunter Funeral Home. Kerry Young will officiate.

Justin Griffin, Chris Williams, Michael Williams, Dillion Williams, Terry Prater and Jason Stamper will serve the family as pallbearers.
