Mrs. Alma Cleo Luna Farley, age 90 of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Alma was born May 3, 1935 in Sparta, Tennessee. She lived many years in Illinois where she was an active member of Park Forest South Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher, along with teaching a crafting class at the Senior Citizens Center. She returned to Sparta after the untimely death of her husband in 1979, where she began a career at Russell Stover and became an active member of Bear Cove Baptist Church.
Although Cleo dedicated much of her time to her church and community, her true dedication was being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Gigi to her beloved family. She proudly made her children's clothing as they were growing up, and she always gave her full support and encouragement in all of her family's endeavors. She loved traveling to visit family - whether she was going to help to take care of babies born into the family or making three trips to Africa to visit her daughter as she served there. Cleo was lovingly devoted to her family.
Cleo is preceded in death by her husband Carl Hamp Farley; mother Henry Mason Young Luna; father Floyd Luna; siblings, Loretta Luna Sparks, Juanita Luna Gilliam, W.H. Luna, Lois Luna Bumbalough, James Luna and Sue Luna Qualls.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her three daughters Shirley Jean Farley, Wanda Gail Farley (Mark) Formentini and Billie Ruth Farley (James) Stultz
Grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Formentini, Meredith Stultz (Caleb) Gammel, Katherine Formentini (Ryan) Wilson and James Austin (Lindsay) Stultz, II.
Great-grandchildren that knew her as Gigi: Emery Gammel, Madeline Stultz, Brooklyn Gammel and Elizabeth Wilson
Brother: Amerce Luna
Sister: Ruth Luna Simmons
A host of nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Bear Cove Baptist Church with burial in Nash Cemetery, The family will receive friends after 10:00am Saturday at the church. Jason Doty and Frank Derrick will officiate.
Mark Formentini, James Stultz, Austin Stultz, Ryan Wilson and Tim Qualls will serve as pallbearers.
