Mrs. Alma Ruth Yates Barlow, better known to family and friends as Ruth, age 94 of Sparta, passed away at 9:21am Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Barlow was born September 16, 1927 in Doyle, Tennessee to the late George Robert and Beulah Adair Yates. She was a biscuit maker at McDonald's and a long time cook at Doyle School and Camp Clements. She was a member of Doyle First Baptist Church. She was always on the go and loved to travel. When she slowed down to be at home she enjoyed word search puzzles and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband James Lee Barlow who died February 8, 2001; siblings R.L. Yates, Buck Yates, Claude Yates, Jessie Dodson, JoAda Barlow, Zita Dyer, Estelle Billings, Carl Edward Snodgrass and Robert Snodgrass.

Surviving members left to cherish her memory include her daughter Judy Barlow (James) Eller

Son: James Clinton "Jim" Barlow

Grandchildren: Jackie Dale (Janet) Eller, Jennifer (Caleb) Carr, Landon (Brittney) Barlow,  Dara Smith, Wesley Smith and David Smith

Great-grandchildren: Justin, Chelsey, Katie, Eli, Gage, Gabriella, Evan, Justin, Willow, Bay and Banyan

Great-great-grandchildren: Kayleigh, Jackson, Kember, Roman, Kendelyn, Bentley and Everly

A host of nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Sunday, March 13, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 3:00pm Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home. Tim Judd and David Wayne Copeland will officiate.

Jackie Eller, Justin Eller, Ricky Yates, Cecil Yates, Donny Haley, Josh Kirby, Jeff Snodgrass and Bryan Haley will serve the family as pallbearers.
