Anita Joyce Matheney, known and loved as Joyce/Mom/Nana, passed away June 11, 2026,
at the age of 69 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Joyce was a loyal follower of God. If you knew her, you knew she loved the Lord. She would
talk about her Savior to anyone who would listen. She also loved her family. Her grandsons
were her pride and joy. Joyce loved spending time with her Children, grandchildren,
brothers and sisters. She loved telling them stories of her childhood. She will be missed
dearly by all who knew her.
Joyce was born January 4th, 1957, in Sparta TN to the late Joe Lee and Bernice Seibers.
In addition to her parents, She is preceded in death by her husband Buddy Matheney,
grandson Josiah Matheney, Siblings: Ruth(Carlos) Dailey, Linda(Nikkie) Smartt, Harold
Seibers, Gary Seibers; Father-in-law: George Matheney; Mother-in-law: Betty Matheney;
Brothers-in laws: Rickey Matheney, Mike Matheney, Greg Matheney; Sisters in laws:
Elizabeth McGinty, Emma Smith, and Gail Matheney, Nephews: Gary Seibers Jr and
Dewayne Smartt.

Joyce is lovingly survived by Daughter Amy (Richard)Bumbalough of Sparta and Son Buddy
Matheney Jr (Thea) of Sparta.
Sisters: Rhonda Seibers of Quebeck and Anna Seibers of Livingston.
Brothers: Dwight (Helen)Seibers of Quebeck, Jerry (Betty)Seibers of Walling, Carl Seibers of
Doyle, and Troy Seibers of Quebeck.
Grandchildren: Tyler (Cass)Bumbalough, Ethan (Abby)Bumbalough, Conner Bumbalough,
and Elisha Matheney.
She is also survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be Monday, June 15, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with
burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 11am until service time. Gene Williams will officiate the service.

Tyler Bumbalough, Ethan Bumbalough, Conner Bumbalough, Elisha Matheney, Brian
Seibers, and Thomas Hester will serve the family as pallbearers.
