Mr. Arthur Dean Gist, age 71 of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Mr. Gist was born November 27, 1949 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Charlie Nelson and Vercie Aline Henderson Gist. Arthur was employed at a local shirt factory, and his favorite pastime was golf. He never actually played the game, but he loved to watch it. Arthur especially enjoyed keeping up with Tiger Woods' career. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandson Marcus Jolley and sister Rozena Roberts.

Special Grandchild: Halo

Sister: Elizabeth Ann Burks

Nephew: James Cooke

A host of cousins, friends and neighbors also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00-2:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Linda Cheers will officiate.

Timothy Lewis, Jason Strode, Ronnie Reedy, John Roberts Jr., Tyrone Lewis and Toby Culley will serve the family as pallbearers. Grant Culley, John Strode, Ronald (Brother) Strode, Matthew Boone and Scotty King will serve as honorary pallbearers.
