Mrs. Barbara Dean Vinson Goodwin Barrett, age 84 of the Peeled Chestnut Community passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025 at her residence.

Barbara Dean was born July 26, 1941 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Bud and Ova Steele Vinson. She was retired from Mallory and was a former owner of Ragland Bottom Restaurant. In her younger years, she sang at church and for many funerals. She was an avid reader and a member of Shiloh Church of God of the Prophecy.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husbands Billy Joe Goodwin and Doug Barrett.

Surviving family members include her son Chris Goodwin of Sparta

Grandchildren: T.J. Goodwin and wife Maddie, Tyler Goodwin and fianc'e Cora Chester, Tiffany McKee and husband Shane

Twin great-grandsons: Elijah and Wyatt McKee

Great-granddaughter on the way: Amelia Nicole Goodwin

Sister: Evelyn Exum of Sparta

Brother: Jerry Vinson and wife Wanda of Tullahoma

A host of nieces also survive

Barbara Dean's family would like to express a special thank you to her caregivers Linda Chapman and Karen Sparks

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00pm Monday, October 6, 2025 at Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until departure for the cemetery at 12:30pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Chad Bagley will officiate.

Danny Chapman, Lance Brown, Eddie Cole, Russell Goodwin, T.J. Goodwin and Tyler Goodwin will serve as pallbearers.
