Bettie Jean Guy Spiva of Clarksville, Tennessee transitioned to her Heavenly Father on April 4, 2023. Born on April 5,1935 she was the first of five children born to Floyd Eugene and Flora Gertrude Kirby Guy in White County, Tennessee.

Bettie loved God and the Church from an early age. Her 59-year marriage to Rev. Enoch Edward Spiva was filled with work from a servant's heart, /Bettie gave birth to three children. But she adopted dozens of people. She loved to cook and welcomed many guests to their home. Her husband said she did more counseling than he did during their marriage and ministry in the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church. She worked with United Methodist Women, sang in the choir, worked with youth groups and taught Sunday School. Bettie cared for many children during her lifetime. She was a talented seamstress. She crocheted countless blankets for Project Linus. She loved to sing. Most of all she was a faithful wife and Christian. Even in her final days as she struggled with dementia, Bettie was able to sing a multitude of hymns and pray heartwarming prayers.

Preceding her in death are her husband Rev. Enoch Edward Spiva, sister Elnora Dalton and brothers Earl Clark Guy and Floyd Lewis Guy. Her sister Katherine Savage Phifer survives Bettie as do her children Beverly Spiva, Priscilla (Randy) Dale and Philip (Celena) Spiva. Her grandchildren are Brian (Ashley) Dale, Jennifer (Jamie) Irons, Heather (Will) McGee and Erica Spiva. Surviving great-grandchildren include Jacob Irons, Natalie Irons, Grant Irons, Logan Irons, Malachi Irons, Lilly Dale and Miles McGee. Numerous nieces, nephews and her faithful poodle companion Rosie survive Bettie.

A private family graveside service was held at Lost Creek Cemetery in White County on Saturday April 8, 2023. She was  laid to rest beside her husband Rev. Enoch Edward Spiva. The Honorable David Bass and Reverend Harriet Bryan officiated.

Darren Guy, Corey Guy, Eric Mallette, Will McGee, Brian Dale and Jamie Irons served the family as pallbearers.
