Mrs. Betty Fern Blanford Barnett, age 86 of Sparta, passed away at 7:40am Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at the home of her son.

Betty was born July 20, 1938 in Greensburg, Indiana to the late Charles Martin and Lola Fern Everett Blanford. She and her late husband of 60 years, Lonus Junior Barnett, who died August 17, 2018, moved to the Cassville Community in 1998. Once in Sparta, she worked at Cheek Insurance. Betty enjoyed gardening and canning. Her family affectionately knew her as "Ready Betty" because she was always ready to go out to eat and to people watch at the flea markets. She attended Plainview Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her son in law James Long and six siblings.

Survivors include her daughter: Kathy Long of Elmwood, TN

Son: Michael Wayne (Debbie) Barnett of Sparta, TN

Grandchildren: Michael Lonus Barnett, Keith Myers, Rodney Myers, Josh Myers and Matt Myers

Several great-grandchildren and  step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Plainview Cemetery in the Cassville Community. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Jeremy Poole will officiate.
