Mrs. Betty Louise Dishman Simmons, age 86 of the DeRossett Community passed away at 7:40am on Friday, August 1, 2025 at her residence surrounded by family.

Betty was born May 10, 1939 in Monterey, Tennessee to the late Hershel and Lou Ester Murphy Dishman. She was a former Red Kap employee. She enjoyed working with her flowers and feeding all of the wildlife that would visit her porch. Her greatest joy was being Granny for her family.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Jackson Kenneth Simmons who died March 28, 1993; son Jacky Simmons and brothers Odis, Bobby and Donald Dishman.

Survivors include her son James Simmons and wife Judy

Daughter: Janet McClain and husband Jim

Grandchildren: Jacky Simmons, Jr., Kenneth Simmons, Betty Simmons, Rashelle Simmons, Justin McClain and Amelia Rector

Two sisters: Bonnie Geer and Anna Ruth Williams

Brother: Ronald Dishman

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, August 3, 2025 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12:00pm Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home. Bro. Caleb Bryant will officiate.
