Betty Lawson Matheney

Ms. Betty Jane Lawson Matheney, of Bon Air passed away two days after her 73rd birthday on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Betty was born August 6, 1953 in the Thomas Springs Community of Cumberland County to the late Fred and Lillie Ada Burgess Lawson. Betty was a homemaker and loved to take care of her family. Betty found much enjoyment in feeding and watching the wildlife around her home. The squirrels that made her yard their home provided her with much entertainment.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her nine siblings.

Survivors include her four children: Noretta (Chris) Richmond, James Dale Oliver, Steven Oliver and Lillie Oliver

Grandchildren: Grace Oliver, Dustin Oliver, Austin Oliver and Jessalynn Boles

A host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Thomas Springs Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
