Obituary

Mrs. Billie Dove Powell Bohannon, age 94 of Sparta, passed away Sunday morning, July 17, 2022 at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mrs. Bohannon was born in Bon Air, one of eleven children, and was a lifelong resident of White County. She taught school, and then worked for several decades at the old First National Bank until her retirement. She was a member of Sparta First United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years, and an active member of the United Methodist Women.

Billie is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, R.E. Bohannon; her only child, Debbie Bohannon Sicola; her parents, Dock and Kate Dunn Powell; siblings-in-law; and brothers and sisters including her twin sister, Ann Powell Ray. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her youngest sister, Ruth Powell Glover; her grandchildren Kate Sicola Vasquez and Margaret Sicola Soard, along with their spouses; her great-grandchildren, Aria Vasquez, Lane Vasquez, and Declan Soard; her son-in-law John Sicola; and, many dear nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends after 9:30 am Thursday, July 21, at Sparta First United Methodist Church, followed by funeral services at 11:00am and burial in Highland Cemetery. Pall bearers will be her nephews, Allen Ray, Wesley Bohannon, Todd Bohannon, and Doug Austin, and her grandsons-in-law Mario Vasquez and David Soard. They will be joined by the honorary pall bearers, her nieces and nephews who brought her much joy.
