Robert (Bob) Walter Edward Brockman passed through heavens gates on Sunday, March 29, 2026 in his 100th year of life at the Villages in Florida.
Bob was born in Sheboyan, WI to the late Walter Brockman and Esther Weighardt Brockman on July 27, 1926. He graduated from Central High School in 1943, served as class president, and worked as a lifeguard on Lake Michigan beaches. He proudly served in the US Army from 1943-1945. In 1947, Bob graduated from the Business Institute of Milwaukee.
Bob worked for Thomas Industries for over 20 years - starting in the sales department at Fort Atkinson, WI. He was transferred to several locations: New Orleans, LA, Hopkinsville, KY and finally to establish the Thomas location in Sparta. He served as the HR Manager for the Wagner/Cooper Sparta plant for 20 years, retiring in 1991. He did consulting work for various manufacturing facilities before his final retirement and move to the Villages in Florida. Bob was well respected, always a gentlemen and professional. He never met a stranger. In fact, Bob had a very special quote he shared with everyone ..."Make Someone Feel Good Today."
Bob was an active member in the First Methodist Church of Sparta for 37 years, past President of the Civitan Club, a board of director at the Sparta Country Club, President of the Upper Cumberland Personnel Association, and a member of the Personnel Accreditation Institute in Human Resources. He loved traveling with Jean around the world on cruises. Bob participated in the Senior Games of the Villages winning several medals for walking and swimming. He was a dedicated golfer and walker until his health slowed him down. He was incredibly proud of his 8 holes-in-one.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Jean Hogenson Brockman and second wife of 2 years Patricia Giffen Brockman; Son Tom Brockman, Daughter Mary Brockman Holt; son-in-law Larry Holt and stepdaughter Carol Lloyd.
Survivors include sons Bill and wife Carlene Brockman and John Brockman.
Grandchildren: Emilee Brockman and Tyler Brockman (Ashley), Rebecca Ware Higdon (Tommy) and Jason Ware (Anna Marie), Jenny Holt
Great-Grandchildren: Kelyn Brockman (Abby), Braylee Niedert, Nora Todd and Luka Higdon, Keller and Kia Ware
Great-Great-Granddaughter: Stevie Brockman
Companion: Norma Jean McCann
Step-Children: Susan Kush (Ralph), Ann Simons and James Giffen.
Friends are welcome to a graveside service, in honor of Bob's 100th birthday,at 11am on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Highland Cemetery in Sparta, TN. Randall Kirby will officiate.
