Mr. Calvin Edward Jones, age 55 of Sparta passed away at 7:43pm on Monday, June 29, 2026 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.

Calvin was born December 8, 1970 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Horace "H.L." and Mary Ann Gragert Jones. Calvin was a proud graduate of White County High School and a 24-year employee of Wal-Mart. He looked forward to the fall time of the year for UT Football and being a member of the City of Sparta Street Department's leaf crew. Calvin was a renowned power lifter with the Special Olympics and beyond, competing across the state, the nation and internationally. He collected 328 Gold Medals in his lifting career and was a national level medalist. Calvin will be fondly remembered for his love of the Dukes of Hazzard and his firm handshake.

In addition to his parents, Calvin is also preceded in death by grandparents, Bailey Lee and Ocia Bell Ford Jones; niece Emogene Michelle Green; great niece Brooklyn Jade Green; aunt Laura Mae Davis; aunt Reba Williams and uncle Wayne Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Friday, July 3, 2026 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home. Dewey Young will officiate.

Buford Cole, Brian Cole, Shane Cole, Jackie Brown, Brandon Rogers, Jordan Casey, Adam Haston, Lucas Haston and Bryson Cole will serve the family as pallbearers.
