Mrs. Carol Joy Katolik Mayfield Johnson, age 83 of Sparta, passed away at 10:15am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Carol was born September 30, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late John William and Mildred Twelbeck Katolik. She was a former garment factory worker and a proud homemaker. She was an active member of Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church. Carol loved sewing and crocheting when she was able and taking care of her four legged companion, Luxy. Her greatest love was being Granny to her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a son David Mayfield and husband Blueford Mayfield.

Survivors include her two children Duane (Kelly) Mayfield and Caron (James) McCrary

Grandchildren: Angela, Carrol "Sissy", Johnathan, Samantha, Candy, Vallena, Peggy, Mary, Eric, Molly, Tyler Shane, Cassiie, Austin James

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Graveyard Ridge Cemetery in the Mooneyham community. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00pm Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Johnathan Pittman, James McCrary, Eric Mayfield, James Mayfield, Austin Kirby and Tyler Mayfield will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Lucas Rush.
