Mrs. Carol Lynn McDole Baker, age 84 of Sparta, passed away at 9:40pm Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mrs. Baker was born June 28, 1939 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Ernest "Powder" and Leta Mae Stephens McDole. She was retired from the Red Kap Cutting Room and was a longtime member of West Sparta Church of Christ. Carol especially enjoyed singing bluegrass alongside her husband Gene as they traveled in their Winnebago to bluegrass music festivals during the spring and summer seasons. During her sons' childhoods, she always played an active role in their hobbies, especially the WCHS Band Boosters. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Jesse Eugene "Gene" Baker who died July 22, 2019; siblings Bobby McDole, Jimmy McDole, June Taylor and Dean McDole.

Survivors include her two sons: Steven Eugene (Mary) Baker of Nashville and Barry (Rita) Baker of Sparta

Several nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday, May 4, 2024 at West Sparta Church of Christ with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12:00pm Saturday at the church. Derrick Coble will officiate.

Donnie Frasier, Zachary Young, Jaden Young, Kenny Raymond, John Davis and Mike Gehab will serve the family as pallbearers.
