Mrs. Carolyn Elayne Mitchell Hickey of Hixson, Tennessee formerly of Sparta, passed away at 12:26am Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Mrs. Hickey was born November 16, 1932 in Hugoton, Kansas during the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. She retired after 20 years of service as a secretary for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. An avid reader and painter, Mrs. Hickey was also an active member of her YMCA where she enjoyed line dancing and exercise classes. In addition, she enjoyed swimming and going to the beach.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Hickey, Jr. who died on March 9, 1998.

Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her son Bob Mitchell (Kay) Hickey

Daughter: Dena Johnston

Brother: Gary (Betty) Mitchell

Grandchildren: Heather (Andrew) Martin, Todd (Cassie) Johnston,  Ashley Johnston and Mary Hickey

Great-grandchildren: Lucas Johnston, Alice Johnston, Henry Johnston and Jack Martin

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Pastor Amy Nutt will officiate.

Hank Golden, TC Good, Tyler Good, Bill Hickey, Jr., Andrew Martin and Sam Mitchell will serve the family as pallbearers.
