Obituary

Charles Beecher Lewis, Jr., affectionately known as Chuck, a native of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at his residence.

Charles was born November 3, 1945 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Charles Beecher "C.B." Lewis, Sr. and Charlie Mae Hudgens Lewis. He retired as a Colonel from the United States Army and was the first to teach at West Point Military Academy as a Major. His military career actually started in the Marine Corps at the age of 17. After retiring from active military duty, Charles joined the Metro Davidson Police Department where he served on SWAT and CID. He was an avid fisherman with a love of fast cars and boats. In his golden days, Charles enjoyed spending his time with his two black cats, Blacky and Cutie. He was a member of Mt. Moriah #18, F&AM Masonic Lodge of Murfreesboro, TN. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a sister Katye Markada Lewis Arnold.

Surviving family members include his two sons Mark Lee Lewis and wife Sara of Nashville, TN, Frank Lewis and wife Kristi of Arkansas
Two grandsons: Jordon Lewis and Spencer Lewis
Sister: Elizabeth Lewis of Nashville
Brother: John Lewis of Smyrna
Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, February 21, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard will follow in Old Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from noon until service time at Hunter Funeral Home. Ray Elder will officiate.
The United States Army Honor Guard will serve the family as pallbearers.
