Obituary

Charles Louis McMillan, 88, of Sparta, passed away December 25, 2020, at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County.

Mr. McMillan was born June 14, 1932, in Laramie, Wyoming to Harry B. McMillan and Dorothy McMillan.

Charles graduated from High School at Carlisle Military Academy in South Carolina. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. After his tour, he remained in the USN Reserves as a Hospital Corpsman.

He served as an Oregon State Patrolman for 9 years. During the Vietnam War, he was recalled to Active Duty USN.

He was selected among the first group of candidates to attend the Navy's Charter Physician Assistant Training Program at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He attained the rank of CWO-4 and retired from the US Navy after serving 33 years on October 31, 1984. His final duty station was aboard the USS Nimitz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Doris Louise McMillan who died August 6, 2005.

Survivors include 3 daughters and 2 sons, Corine Anderson and husband David, Cristie McMillan, Candace Franks and husband Robbie, Dirk McMillan and partner Diana, Doyle McMillan and wife Suzette. Six grandchildren, Brandon, David, Brooke, Christopher, Terri and Justin. Nine great-grandchildren, Kiera, Jurnee, Logan, Spencer, Nia, Trinity, Gabriel, Brian and Riley.

Burial with full military honors will be conducted 10:00am on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.
