Mrs. Cheryl Ann "CJ" Johnston-Ballew, age 65 passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2023 at her home.

CJ was born September 2, 1957 in San Jose, California to the late David and Virginia Johnston.  She spent many years driving a truck as an owner-operator. CJ spent her latter years being a devoted wife, mother and friend to all she held dear.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son David McMillen.

CJ is survived by her husband Tommy Ballew of Sparta

Children: Daniel Ballew and wife Kimberly of Sparta, James Ballew of Jamestown and Joseph Tindle of Sparta

Grandchildren: Kayden Walton of Woodbury, Hunter Ballew of Alexandria, Brian Stanley, Carter Turner and Steven Turner all of Sparta

Several nieces and nephews also survive

A private funeral service was conducted 2:00pm on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Hensley Chapel Baptist Church. Burial followed in Young Cemetery. Jason Lewis officiated.

Daniel Ballew,  James Bearden, James Ballew, T C Parks,  Joseph Tindle, Jarred Davis, Carter Turner and J.D. Wilson served as pallbearers.
