Cleo Frances Passons Walker was born March 2, 1928 in Warren Co., TN to the late T.A. and Zettie Hudgens Passons.  She passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021 in Lawrenceburg, TN.  Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband: Jimmy Glynn Walker, son: Stephen Glynn Walker, Grandson: Glynn Lane Walker,  Brother: William T. Passons, and Sister-in-law: Maxine Passons.

Mrs. Cleo grew up in Sparta, except for a brief time in Giles County.  She was a WCHS Graduate of 1945.  Her lifelong dream of being a teacher came true as she spent 43 years working in the White County Schools.

Higher Education included a BS degree from Martin College where she was awarded membership in  Phi Delta Kappa & Delta Psi Omega Honor Societies.  She then attained her MA Degree from TTU where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Phi and Phi Delta Kapp Honor Societies.

As Supervisor of Instruction in the White County Schools, she wrote many Federal Grants which earned funding for the School System. One Federal Project was the highly successful Summer School Program.  Beginning in 1967, and continued in some form for many years.  She was the Director for all 3 Summer Headstart Programs.  She was named Upper Cumberland Supervisor of the Year,  President of the Middle TN Supervisor Association and was nominated for Supervisor of the year while in service. Locally she was Charter President of Alpha Delta Kappa and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, showing continuing support in education efforts.

She considered her greatest achievement being mother to her 2 children, Stephen Glynn and Katherine.

She is survived by her daughter:  Katherine W. Dunn of Lawrenceburg, TN

Grandchildren:  Chris (Tiffany) Walker of Gallatin, Drew Dugger of Florida, Dustin Dugger of Lawrenceburg, and Mandy Dunn (Eric) McClaren of Lawrenceburg

Great Grandchildren:  Abany Dugger, Hallie Dugger, Weston Hagen, Grayson McClaren, Annalee McClaren, Tallan McClaren, Calley Walker, Dalton Walker, Kalya Walker and Kolby Walker.

Graveside Service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Old Union Cemetery, conducted by Roy Whited.
