Mr. Dewey Lee Swindell, age 82 of Sparta, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at his residence with his family by his side.

Dewey was born March 24, 1943 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Charley and Martha Harris Swindell. He worked a variety of jobs and ultimately retired from Red Kap. Dewey was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, gardening, wood working and taking care of his lawn on his Bad Boy Mower. Dewey was an active member of First Community Church and loved spreading God's word whenever he could.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Rosie Pedigo; father and mother-in-law Herman and Dorothy Holman.

Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Peggy Holman Swindell

Son: Ronald (Beth) Swindell

Grandsons: Cason Swindell and Christopher Swindell

Brothers and sisters-in-law: Randy (Kristi) Holman, Lisa (John) Wilson,  Rex (Kim) Holman, Amy (Alan) Cash

A host of nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, June 29, 2025 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Bon Air Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00pm Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home. John David Wilson will officiate.
