Mrs. Dian Louise Paynter Sherrell, age 77 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away early Sunday morning, February 7, 2021 at her residence in the Old Zion Community on the 3-year anniversary of the death of her husband, Glynn Allen Sherrell, who died on February 7, 2018.

Dian was born May 26, 1943 in Roseville, Michigan to the late Paul Edward and Loretta Cadreau Paynter. Dian was a member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians through her mother's heritage. She was a homemaker to her large family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by siblings Louis Paynter, Sandra Langley and Ralph Paynter of Roseville, Michigan; grandchildren Kenneth, Kendra Sherrell and Kylie Mackie.

She is survived by her children: Kent Sherrell & Karen Rodgers, Karen & Jimmy McCulley, Kelly & Michael Kilgore, Karl & Kim Sherrell, Kandy & Randal Cantrell

Grandchildren: Kristopher Sherrell, Kevin Sherrell, Audrey & Dylan Lockwood, Jesse Sherrell, Katie Lawson, Daniel & Kelsey McCulley, Tyler & Haley McCulley, Kristin & Zachary Nosbisch, Stephen & Carrissa Mackie, Mary Dixon, Lauren Kilgore, Mykel & Madison Cantrell, Kaycee & Brian Nieves-Rosa

Great-grandchildren: Kennedi Sherrell, Kamron Sherrell, Kimber Sherrell, Elle Mae Lockwood, Emily Sue Lockwood, Kylie McCulley, Hayden McCulley, Carter McCulley, Oliver McCulley, Finn Nosbisch, Beckham Mackie, Dax Mackie, Madeline Dixson, Kellen Dixson, August Cantrell and Breyden Nieves-Rosa

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, February 11, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Saylors Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00am until service time at Hunter Funeral Home. Joe England will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers are Daniel McCulley, Tyler McCulley, Jesse Sherrell, Zachary Nosbisch, Stephen Mackie, Mykel Cantrell and Brian Nieves-Rosa.

The family respectfully asks that guests visiting the funeral home to please wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines. The register book will be available on Wednesday from 9:00 until 4:00pm in the parlor of Hunter Funeral Home for those friends not comfortable being in a crowd
