Mr. Don Morris Johnson, age 76 of Sparta, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Don was born May 10, 1947 in Joelton, Tennessee to the late Bill Ed and Lula Mai Morris Johnson. His work career spanned from many years at Morehead Tree Surgery to Big Red Supply and Village Car Wash. As a side job, he loved mowing yards. Don served his country as a cook in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Shirley Fisher Johnson who died Christmas Day 2019; brother Glover Johnson; nephew Glenn Johnson.

Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his daughter Rhonda Kirby and husband Brad

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Thursday, November 9, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Veterans' Honor Guard will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home. Doug Goff will officiate.

Nick Kirby, Dustin Kirby, R.J. Lee, Nile Phylips, Brandon Wilson and Mark Fisher will serve the family as pallbearers.
