Donald William Humphrey, 82, of Walling, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro.

Born at home on October 5, 1942 to Willie Foster and Lovener Wright Humphrey, Donald served his country in the U.S. Army and often spoke fondly of his travels in Europe. He could still speak some German he learned in the service, and he enjoyed taking his wife to revisit some of his favorite sights. Donald started his own successful septic tank business with his brother, but he most loved working on his family farm, where he raised cattle, hay, chickens, a large garden, and peach trees. He also loved buying and selling cars and was particularly proud of the vintage raspberry-colored Volkswagen he restored. Late in life he became an accomplished woodworker and sculptor. Donald was a member of Spring Hill the Baptist Church of Christ.

Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by two brothers: Buford Keith Humphrey and John Thomas Humphrey; and his son, Donald Gregory Humphrey.

Donald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine Pollard Humphrey

Their 4 daughters: Cindy Gray, Janie Humphrey, Darla Dunn, and Leila Easterly

8 Grandchildren: Whitney Burkhalter, Amber Clover, Natalya Gray, Autumn Roberts, Hunter Humphrey, Jasmine Verde, Carson Easterly, and Lenox Easterly

5 Great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Humphrey, Addyson Humphrey, Ridge Humphrey, Dorothy Burkhalter, and Margaret Burkhalter

Brothers & Sisters:  Katie Lee Young,  Sarah Rebecca Smith, Vera Odessa Mabe, Linton Ross Humphrey, Linda Sue Moores, and Roy Lee Humphrey

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Spring Hill the Baptist Church with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery with full military honors from the Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM before the service at the church.
Pastor Burl Rice will officiate the service.
