Doris Jean Cooley, 87, died at 12:27 PM, Wednesday, September 21 ^st , 2022 peacefully in her home in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born October 9 ^th , 1934 in Argo, Alabama, to Clerance Decimer Bennett. She married John W Cooley on November 22 ^nd , 1958, they had a long, loving, happy married for 62 years, they have 2 beautiful daughters Kim and Tammy. They were also lucky enough too have several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband John Cooley. Also preceding her in death are her brother, Marshall Bennett, and her sister, Sue Crandall. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Walls, her daughters, Tammy Christie and Kim Long, her grandchildren John and Kyle Christie, Olivia Bowman, Stephanie Garwood, Ryan and Matthew Long, as well as several great grandchildren.

Doris was raised in Argo, Alabama. She was a homemaker, and very devoted to her home and family. Doris organized many events for friends, family, and countless business associates of John's. They modeled their life in a very traditional fashion. While he built an amazing foundation for his family, Doris embraced the other aspects of the home.

She lived a full life with her husband John, they traveled to several countries including Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. Doris also planned and attended many extravagant affairs through their 62 years of marriage. John and Doris settled down in Indianapolis where they happily lived out the rest of their days surrounded by family.

Doris was a beacon of light to those lucky enough to have known her. Through her kindness and gentle nature, she touched the lives of many and will not be forgotten.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday, October 1, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10:00am Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home.
