Obituary

Dorothy Hudson, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away ­­­­May 25, 2025, at the age of 97.

Dot was born in Grundy County July 28, 1927, to Frankie Coppinger Simons and James Hannibal Simons and married Edward W. Hudson at the end of WWII.  Dot and Edd raised their children on Air Force bases in Georgia, Japan, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, coming home to live on the Hudson family farm in Walling, TN for 45 years.  For the past 10 years, she lived in Nashville near her children.

Dot was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 68 years, Edd, brothers JD and Fred Simons, sister Naomi Roberts, eleven half siblings, granddaughter Emily Vandergriff, and son-in-law Odell Pullen.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Hudson of Johnson City, Mike Hudson (Susan) of Nashville, and Eddy Hudson (Julie Mavity) of Joelton; three grandchildren, Nathan Hudson, Dinan Pullen (Ron Spears) and Ciana Pullen (Tom Spec); and three great grandchildren, Alex, Andy, And Grace Hudson.

A graveside service will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Walling, TN, at 11 o'clock on June 2. There will be no public visitation prior to the service. The Family extends a welcome to join them at the Gum Springs Baptist Church immediately following the service for a fellowship meal.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of Abe's Garden Community for their genuine love and care of Dot for many years, and to Alive Hospice for their excellent care in her last months.  Memorial donations may be made to Abe's Garden Community (abesgarden.org) or to Alive Hospice, Nashville
