Mrs. Dorothy Mae Swoape Roberts, affectionately known as Dot, age 80, passed away at 10:58pm Thursday, October 20, 2022 at her residence.

Dot was born November 18, 1941 in Doyle, Tennessee to the late Thomas Clifford & Sallie Mae McCormick Swoape. She was a retired postal clerk from the Cookeville Post Office after a 10 year career as secretary at Volunteer Specialty. She was a member of the Promenadors Square Dance Team at the Friday night Grand Ole Opry for 14 years. She loved attending craft shows although, her greatest love was being "Ma" to her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Charles "Bluegrass Charlie" Roberts who died April 12, 2016; brothers Thomas, Jackie, Lonnie and Joe Swoape; her beloved four legged companion, Puff Puff.

Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her son Stoney (Rachelle) Roberts

Grandson: Peyton (Megan) Roberts

Granddaughters: Jaelyn (Justin) Martin, Elizabeth Lloyd, Tara Molbert

Great-granddaughter: Ellis Martin

Sisters: Reba (James P.) Smith, Nelda McDonald

A host of nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the East Sparta Church of God with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm Monday and after 10:00am Tuesday at the church. Dot's nephew, Greg Wilson will officiate.

Jim Smith, Justin Martin, Scott Swoape, Cody Roberts, Jayson McDonald, Peyton Roberts, Britton Smith and Eli McDonald will serve the family as pallbearers.
