Mrs. Dortha Belle Vinson Selby, also known as Dot, age 96 of Sparta, passed away at 3:30pm on Thursday February 24, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Selby was born August 4, 1925 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Jim Josh & Mary Lydia Lambert Vinson. She was a former shirt factory worker and homemaker. She loved working outside and took great pride in keeping her property clean of any fallen debris and caring for her flowers. In the winter months when she could not be outside, she enjoyed quilting. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband James L. Selby; sisters Willia Weaver, Maggie Carter, Hallie Jeter, Velma Womack and Mary McBride; brothers Edgar, Guster and Virgil Vinson; son-in-law Melvin Abston.

Survivors include her two daughters Mary Abston and Joyce (Ronnie) Spivey

Grandchildren: Dariel Abston, Carol Abston, Tammy (Bill) Hitchcock and Derona Lee

Great-grandchildren: Brittany (Chris) Lawson, Shelby Rutherford, Katy Hitchcock, Adam Hitchcock and Ethan Lee

Great-great-grandchildren: Aubree, Jaxson and Adalynn Lawson

Several nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, February 27, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home. Adam Hitchcock and Dan Horton will officiate.

Bill Hitchcock, Adam Hitchcock, Ethan Lee, Scott Kelley, Daniel Smith and Dakota Dunn will serve the family as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Goines and Ronnie Spivey
