Dwayne Earl Prater, age 60 of Sparta, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Dwayne was born October 30, 1960 in Sparta, Tennessee. He was a former steel worker. Dwayne served on a cannon crew in the United States Army. His passion was being a cowboy and working with horses, but his greatest job and accomplishment was being a loving father and grandfather. Dwayne is preceded in death by his mother Diana Charlyn Ray Prater and his father James Earl Prater who died March 1, 2021.

Survivors include his daughter LaTisha Angelene (Dale) Tower of Cookeville

Grandchildren: Lidia Mae Tower and Braxton Lee Tower

Uncles:  Horace (Thelma) Prater, Bobby (Janis) Prater all of Sparta, David (Sandy) Prater of Central, S.C., Rufus (Jenny) Prater of Salisbury, MD

Aunt: JoAnna (Ken) Gouge of Knoxville

A host of cousins and friends also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by the Veterans' Honor Guard will follow in Rose Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Bro. Clayton Lee will officiate.

Mike Prater, Sam Prater, Robbie Prater, Dale Harris, Ken Gouge and Todd Eller will serve the family as pallbearers as served for Dwayne's father in March.
