Edward Ray Phifer passed away in Sparta, TN at the age of 86 on Thursday, May 19, 2022. He was born in Sparta on August 8,1935 to Lewis Ray and Lela Spakes Phifer. Edward was a member of Sparta First Free Will Baptist Church. He retired from Fleetguard after working for 26 years. Edward enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby Ann Young Phifer, sister, Betty Sue Phifer Davis, half brother, Rick Phifer, and nephew, Ronnie Davis. He is survived by his children, Chris Phifer (Lauren) of Quebeck, TN, Kim Sanders (Tim) of Hungerford, England, and Candy Fowler (Jerry) of Sparta, TN; grandchildren, Kayla Rogers (Shane), Chad Fowler (Lauren), Evin Hibbs, Paxton Phifer, and Ansley Phifer; great-grandchildren, Lane and Levi Rogers, Reagan and Haston Fowler; and half brothers, Kenny Phifer, Roy Phifer, and Don Phifer. The family would like to express their thanks to the Life Care Memory Unit of Sparta for the special care given to Edward.

Funeral services will be held at Hunter Funeral Home, Sparta, TN at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2022 with Bro. Dan Horton and Bro. Bryan Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers include: Tim Sanders, Jerry Fowler, Chad Fowler, Shane Rogers, Paxton Phifer, and Kyle Davis.
