Mr. Ernest N. Walker, Jr., age 75 of the Hickory Valley Community, passed away Tuesday morning August 1, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Ernest was born December 31, 1947 in Van Buren County to the late Ernest N. and Emogene Yates Walker, Sr.. He worked for over forty years in the Engineering Department of the Tennessee Department of Transportation. He loved watching westerns and carrying on a conversation with anyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed farming and watching his livestock. His proudest accomplishment above all else was being Papaw to his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Linda Joyce Neely Walker who died May 7, 2013.

Surviving family members include his three sons Jimmy DeWayne Walker of Sparta, Jeff E. Walker and wife Amanda of Sparta, Jason Clayton Walker and wife Renee of Smithville

Grandchildren: Megan Walker, Molly Walker, Morgan Walker and Charlie Walker

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, August 4, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Friday at Hunter Funeral Home. Doug Benningfield will officiate.

Jimmy Walker, Jeff Walker, Jason Walker, Quinton Walker, Charlie Walker and Will Trute will serve as pallbearers.
