Mr. Garry Gean Burson, age 77 of Sparta passed away at 2:50am Friday, January 24, 2025 at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Garry was born October 27, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Hershel and Dorothy Stanton Burson. He retired from GE in Shreveport. Garry was a proud veteran of the United States Army and an active member of Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher. He was an avid gardener and loved being outside working with his land. Weekends in the fall, he cheered on his native LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. His greatest joy was being with his family. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother David McGinnis.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years Carolyn Copeland Burson

Two sons: Stephen Burson and Jeffrey West

Five grandchildren

Three brothers: Larry Burson, Stanley (Susan) Burson and Hershel (Mary Ann) Burson

Sisters: Sharon Emmert and Judy Parrish

A host of nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Monday, January 27, 2025 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Veterans' Honor Guard will follow in Copeland's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Monday at Hunter Funeral Home. Dan Horton and Pastor Maston Jackson will officiate.
