Mrs. Geneva England Cotten, age 93 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away at 4:15 am Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Life Care Center of Sparta surrounded by family.
Geneva was born June 4, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William Matthew England and Verla Norris England. Mrs. Cotten was a retired school teacher of 35 years. She worked for American Red Cross blood drive for 30 years, and also served on the fair board for several years. She enjoyed going to schools and reading to the kids and known as the "Lollipop Lady" for 35 years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles in her spare time and enjoyed making quilts for family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her Husband: Albert Kenneth Cotten, brother: Richard Earl England, and half-sister: Will Thomas England, and a grandson: Jonathan Prince Cotten.
Surviving family members include 2 sons: Kenneth (Norma) Cotten and Richard (Heather) Cotten
2 Grandkids: William Cotten and Emily Cotten
3 Step-Grandkids: Brad Gurley, Alex (Flora) Hale and Ashton (Carolyn) Hale
2 Great-grandsons: Dondre Meek and Tyler Cotten
5 Great-granddaughters: Cirrea Cotten, Johnny Sue Cotten, Serenity Cotten, Harley Cotten, and Skylar Cotten
Step-Great-Grandaughter: Charlee Gurley
3 Great Friends: Linda Goodwin, Bea England, and Geneva Hayes
Pallbearers: Kenny Cotten. Richard Cotten, Billy Cotten. Wyatt Cotten, Hoyt Jones, Lanny Selby and Joe Wall.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Sparta with burial in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Hunter Funeral Home Chapel and from 1:00 pm till Service time on Wednesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, St. Jude Hospital, or the White County Library in care of Hunter Funeral Home.
