Mr. Gordon Ray Scott, age 83 of Quebeck, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at his residence.
Gordon was born August 21, 1938 in Sparta, Tennessee. He was the last living child of the twelve children born to the late Dudley Ambrose & Jennie Lee Ledford Scott. He retired from the United States Navy where he served two tours of Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was former president of the local Purple Heart Chapter. Gordon then began a career as a Post Master for the United States Postal Service, serving the communities of Walling and Quebeck just to name a few. He was an avid golfer and loved to play poker. In addition to his parents and sibling, he is also preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Scott Bain and a son David Ray Scott who died September 30, 2021.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his children Douglas Scott & wife Laura, Denine Cates & husband Steve, Paul Poland & wife Sharon
Grandchildren: Billie Jeanne Johnson, Stacy Johnson, Levi Hughes, Andie Scott, Ashley Nichols, Melissa Robinson, Skyler Scott, Ethan Scott, Katelynn Poland and Paul Poland, III
A host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, June 4, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Veterans' Honor Guard will follow in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8:00pm and after 11:00am Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home. Jonathan Savage will officiate.
Douglas Scott, Paul Poland, Mason Parks, Cody Nichols, Travis Hardwick and Randy Kelsey will serve the family as pallbearers.
