Mr. James Lyle Scott, age 58 of Sparta, a longtime TDOT employee, passed away Wednesday evening at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital.

Lyle was born April 18, 1964 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late James Albert "Bouse" & Joyce Darlene Long Scott. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Tennessee Department of Transportation for over 30 years. Many people will remember him driving through Sparta in his Smart Car. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but was an avid animal lover, especially cats. Lyle was a collector and liked to tinker on equipment. When he was at home, he could be found watching an episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard".

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00am Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Oak Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the White County Animal Shelter.
