Mr. James Barry Simpson, age 81 of Sparta, passed away at 10:03am Sunday, November 6, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Barry was born September 18, 1941 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late George Gillen and Treva Leron Stewart Simpson. He was a retired supervisor with Mallory with 30 years of service. Barry was an avid golfer and a University of Tennessee fan. His sense of humor will always be remembered. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a son Randall Bradford "Randy" Simpson who died on July 2, 2012; infant son Michael Ryan Simpson; sister Kay Burns.

Surviving family members include his wife of 46 years Lynne Hawley Simpson

Daughter: DeAnna (David) Stapler

Son: Brian Simpson

Daughter: Meredith Simpson

Two grandchildren: Jesica (Calvin) Lloyd and David (Lee Anne) Stapler, Jr.

Four great-grandchildren: Kolaia, Leelon, Warren and Cecelia

Sisters: Sharon (R.T.) Haston, Patsy (Carl) Sims and Peggy Jolly

Brother: Lynn (Judy) Simpson

Man's Best Friend: Sophie

A host of nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Brad Walker will officiate.
