Mr. James Steven Young, known by many friends and family as Steve, age 72 of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Steve was born Sunday, February 24, 1952 in Sparta, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his mother America Lee "Merkey" Miller Holman; father, James Arthur "Bud" Young; son Shane Young who died March 28, 2022; three infant sisters; two brothers David Young and Arthur Young.
Steve was one who never met a stranger. He worked in a factory and was an over the road truck driver for 27 years, the last being at CB Trucking. In addition, Steve owned a flower shop in Spencer and was a former owner of Flowers & Fine Things in Sparta. He enjoyed singing at church, fishing, cornhole, horseshoes and decorating for Christmas. He also enjoyed taking memorial flowers to 111, selling and talking to customers, and reading his Bible. But most of all, Steve loved spending time with his beloved family.

* PLEASE NOTE A CHANGE IN DAY AND TIME FROM EARLIER POSTED, Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, May 30, 2024 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00pm Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Dewey Young will officiate.
Logan Brown, Malachi Brown, Bobby Wright, Jr., Justin Wright, Michael Brown and Adam Stafford will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Robbins and Arian Qualls
