Willie Alva Jean Hedgecough Reece, better known as Jean Reece, age 84 of Sparta, a native of Baxter, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022.

Jean was born May 26, 1938 in Baxter, Tennessee to the late Riley and Annie Hedgecough. She met her husband, Thomas, at the age of 17, and it was love at first sight. After only three dates, he asked her to marry him. They were blessed with four children. Jean and Thomas were both hard-working, caring people and had a wonderful life together until he passed away in November 1999. Jean was very creative. From her artistic talents and skills as a seamstress to gardening and her amazing cooking for those she loved, there seemed to be nothing she couldn't do.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Jean is also preceded in death by son Greg Reece; daughter Sylvia Ross; brothers Henry Hedgecough and Junior Hedgecough; sisters Helen Carter, Irene Dunn, Agnes Dunn and Kathleen Morris.

Granddaughters: Jamie (Nick) Pippin and Raven (Jon) Elmore

Great-grandchildren: Dayston, Dawson & Celisity Bradley, Olivia Pippin

Funeral Services will be conducted 1pm Friday, October 7, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery in Baxter. The family will receive friends after 9am Friday at Hunter Funeral Home. Eric Burchfield and Mike Goddard will officiate the service.

Gerald Fisher, Chad Fisher, Mike Honaker, Greg Hutson, Paul Reece, Ronnie Wilson, James Dunn and Jon Elmore will serve the family as pallbearers.
