Jerry Dudley Scott born on September 14, 1952 in Nashville to the late Dudley and Tommie Jean Scott passed away on June 20, 2023.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother Joe Micheal Scott and father-in-law Clyde Parris. Jerry is survived by wife of 51 years, Babetta Parris Scott. His two daughters Leslie Wehage & husband Nathan and Rachel Rice & husband Tyler, four grandchildren, Vaughn, Campbell & Arlo Wehage and Maren Rice, sister Gloria Roberts & husband Gordon, mother-in-law Mildred Parris and nieces & nephews.

Jerry's family would like to send a special thank you to Robert Officer, Vanessa Neal and Gentiva Hospice for the support, compassion and care they showed to Jerry and his family.

Jerry was a member of the graduating class of 1971 from White County High School.

Jerry's main priority was always his family. He loved being able to take them on vacations. His favorites were taking them to the beach, Disney World and Yellowstone. Family meant everything to him.

He was a Tennessee Vols football fan. He went to countless UT games, the Sugar Bowl and continued to share these experiences with his children.

He was known for this laugh. It was loud, contagious and lit up a room. When he laughed everyone around him noticed. He was fun to be around.

His grandchildren brought him so much joy and happiness. He would play on the floor, wrestle them and take them to a toolbox in the wood they called "Pirate Treasure". He would rock, sing and hum to them. He would take them anywhere they wanted to go. Whatever they wanted, Grandpa would get it no questions asked. He loved being around them and showing them a safe loving place.

He coached many different youth teams. He would teach young girls about basketball and softball. He took the time to show them they could play and have fun. He would make sure every girl that wanted to play got that chance. He made it fun for everyone.

Jerry was a sweet, loving man who would help anyone out that he could. He was always known as the go-to guy. He will be missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, June 23, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Friday at Hunter Funeral Home.
