Mr. Jimmy Ray Dodson, age 63 of Sparta, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Jimmy was born July 1, 1962 in Pikeville, Tennessee to the late William Clyde and Shirley Dean Beasley Dodson. Jimmy was a former factory worker and farmer. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed a good game of chance with crossword scratch off lottery tickets.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother William Dodson.

Surviving family members include his wife of 40 years Barbara Smith Dodson

Two sons: Patrick Ray (Megan) Dodson and Donnie Dodson

Daughter: Kelley Dodson Ryan

Grandchildren: Madalyn Scott, Haylee Ryan, Charlee Ryan and Ruthie Dodson

Sisters: Louise (Steve) House, Betty (Larry) Conley, Linda (Raymond) Brewer

Brother: Johnny (Mary) Dodson

A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Myers Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3:00pm Wednesday at the church. Wayne Sullivan will officiate.
