Mrs. Josephine Griffin "Jo" Miller, age 89 of Sparta, went to be with the Lord at 11:51am Friday, January 29, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Miller was born April 13, 1931 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Barrion Somerfield & Viola Medley Griffin. She was a retired shirt factory worker and then she worked alongside her daughter in the family flower shop, All Occasion Flowers. Jo was a devout Christian and attended Big Springs Church of Christ as a life long member of the Church of Christ. She loved the outdoors, watching the birds and working in her flower garden but her greatest joy was being Mam-ma to her family and her community. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Stanton Jay Miller, Jr.; son Harold Miller; siblings Junior, Lorene, Paul, Evelyn Ruth and Joyce.

Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law: Gail and Ralph Sims

Grandchildren: Marci Sims, Chad (Jamie) Sims, Breeanne Lawson, Brent (Bridgette) Lawson

Great-grandchildren: Haylee (Daniel) Johnson, Chadleigh (Garrett) Turner, Chandler (Katelyn) Sims, Sawyer Sims

Great-great-granddaughter: Rylee Johnson

Daughter-in-law: Beverly (John) Lawson

Niece: Carmel Henson

Special in her life: Leigh Robbins, Marvene Dodson and Linda Goines

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, January 31, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Big Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. John Lawson will officiate.

Chad Sims, Sawyer Sims, Chandler Sims, Brent Lawson, Greg Cravens, Daniel Johnson and Garrett Turner will serve as pallbearers.

The family respectfully asks that guests visiting the funeral home to please wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines.
