Mr. Joe M. Duke, age 82, passed away at 12:05am Friday, August 26, 2022 at Erlanger Hosptial in Chattanooga.

Mr. Duke was born April 5, 1940 in the Sparkmantown Community to the late Daniel M. and Mattie Treva Brymer Duke. He was a longtime mechanic with his own shop in Doyle and was a member of Quebeck Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 37 years. Mr. Duke was an avid fisherman and took great pride in his 1954 Ford that he spent his career working out of and then after its retirement restoring it bolt by bolt to mint condition. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Mary Lou Phifer Duke who died on June 28, 2014; brother Ernest Dukes.

Surviving family members include his children and their spouses: Lyndell & Sonya Duke of Doyle, Cindy & Billy Thomas of Walling, Billy & Talonna Duke of Doyle, Laura & Kemith Nelson of Doyle

Grandchildren: Derrek Parrish, Amanda Prater, Josh Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Jacob Duke, Daniel Duke, Jonah Duke and Grayson Nelson

Great-grandchildren: Lucas West, Owen, Eliza and Lucy Jo Prater, Westin, Kinley, Kasen and Clay Thomas, Bailey Duke

Brothers: Elmer Dukes and James Dukes

Sisters: Diane Dukes and Mary Tosh

Several nieces and nephews also survive

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday August 30, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Doyle Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until servicve time Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home. David Bratcher will officiate.

Kemith Nelson, Josh Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Derrek Parrish and Jacob Duke will serve as pallbearers.
