John Edward Hodges died November 13, 2022. John was a graduate of Sevier County High School, and the University of Tennessee. John was especially proud of his military service; he was in the Army ROTC program at UT and commissioned a Second Lieutenant upon graduation in 1966. He trained at Ft. Benning, Georgia and served at Hunter Army AirField. He then served in South Korea, where he was promoted to First Lieutenant. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Amaline (Whaley) Hodges, and his brothers, Harry and Alvin. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hodges, of Sparta, TN, his children, Amy Hodges Morehous (David) of Knoxville, and Elizabeth McKeever (Stewart) of Charleston, SC, stepchildren Michael Zipper, Jennifer Hall (Randy) and Garry Knowles (Tammy) and grandchildren, K Morehous, Charles McKeever, Katelin Hall, and Sophia Knowles. The family will receive friends from 12-2PM Friday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with service to follow at 2PM. Interment will follow at Boyd's Creek Cemetery.
