Mr. John Vance Lee, age 93 of Sparta, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, passed away at 9:23 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Lee was born March 4, 1927 in White County to the late John Mathais & Lola Belle Stamps Lee. He was a longtime member of Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church where he was baptized in July 1945 and attended regularly until his health no longer permitted him to go. He was a retired model maker from Christy Industries in Detroit. He would make full size plastic models of vehicles off of their blueprints years in advance of their production for the manufacturers to go by in production. Mr. Lee served his country in the U.S. Army as a MP guarding German prison camps. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his late wife of 70 years Myrtle Cunningham Lee who died February 20, 2020; siblings Hershel Lee, Clara Bullock, Alma Cunningham, Virgie Mackie, Alvin Lee and Treva Huddleston.

Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his daughter Linda Kay Fisher and husband John of Detroit, Michigan

Granddaughters: Robin Katai and husband Tim, Megan Oikarinen and husband Gerald all of Michigan

Great-grandchildren: Tony and Raquel Katai, Ty, Mya and Quinn Oikarinen

Graveside services with military honors by the Veterans' Honor Guard will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Cunningham Cemetery. There will be no public visitation prior to the service. Rev. Bobby Moore will officiate.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mr. Lee's caregiver Robin Malcolm and the staff of Caring Heart Home Care for all of their love and care.
