John Thomas "Tom" Young, age 88 of Sparta passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 31, 2016 at the Life Care Center of Sparta. He was born June 26, 1927 in Dekalb County, TN to the late Edgar and Melissa Taylor Young. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Johnnie Ruth Wilson Young, a brother: Junior Young, and 2 sisters: Irene Palmer and Mary Frances Davis.

Mr. Young served in the U.S. Marines. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Gum Springs Baptist Church. He was a salesman at Green's auto parts and worked part time at the Recycling center.

Tom is survived by his Daughters: Elaine Frey of Nashville and Brenda Williams of Nashville

Son: Steven Young of Sparta

Grandchildren: Noah Young and McKenna Young along with thier mother: Kelli Grogan

Brother: Robert Young of Sparta

Sister-in-law: Mary Wilson of Sparta

FUNERAL SERVICE will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Young Officiating. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery in Cassville, with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm and again from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday evening with Masonic Rites Service at 7pm.
