Mrs. Joyce Ann Bennett Cope, age 83 of Sparta, passed away at 1:20pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mrs. Cope was born July 5, 1938 in Sparta to the late Oscar C. and Katherine Whiteaker Bennett. She was a retired department manager for Wal-Mart. She also worked in the family business Cope Brothers Oil Company. She was an avid fan of University of Tennessee athletics, and she enjoyed traveling. Above all else, she loved time spent with her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Nina Fowler, as well as her daughter Sherry Beth Cope Smith and son Ronald Jeffrey "Jeff" Cope, both of whom she lost in 2020.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years Bobby Cope of Sparta

Son: Mike (Christy) Cope of Murfreesboro

Grandchildren: Emilee (Jacob) Groce, Shane (Amanda) Smith, Ciera Cope, Zac Cope, Sabrina Butturini

Great-grandchildren: Rylee & Maddox Groce, Carsen & Asher Smith, Samantha Butturini

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, August 27, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Plainview Cemetery in the Cassville Community. The family will receive friends after 11:00 am Friday at Hunter Funeral Home. Matt Hull will officiate.

Shane Smith, Jacob Groce, Jeff Smith, Mike Mathis, Maddox Groce and Carsen Smith will serve as pallbearers.
