Obituary

Mr. Paul Ellis "Mike" Gaul of San Jose, CA passed away January 16, 2021 in Clovis, CA at the age of 92.  The son of the late Lewis Gaul Sr. and Annie Daubert Gaul, he was born in Reading, PA. After serving in the United States Air Force, he moved to Alexandria, VA in 1955, and then to San Jose, CA in 1976.

Mr. Gaul loved aviation and was a private pilot before joining the Air Force. He retired after 38 years as an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Katherine Gaul, Mary Chiralo, and Lewis Gaul, Jr.

Joyce Ann Crick Gaul of San Jose, CA passed away August 9, 2021 in Los Gatos, CA at the age of 85.  The daughter of the late Lance Durmont Crick and Margaret Anita Wilson Crick, she was born in Sparta, TN.  Following her mother's death in 1936, she was cared for by her grandparents Edward Cole Wilson and Margaret Broyles Wilson.  She was adopted in 1941 by her Aunt Sarah Wilson Compere and Uncle William Compere and they lived in San Francisco, CA and Sparta, TN.

Mrs. Gaul attended Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN and Grace Downs Airline Hostess School in New York City.  She was a flight attendant with Capital Airlines until she married Mr. Gaul in the Summer of 1959.  She was also a librarian in Alexandria, VA and a nanny for many families in San Jose, CA.

The couple are survived by their four children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Sons:  M. Edward (Monica) Gaul of Oakley, CA, William (Marilyn) Gaul of St. Michael, MN, and Jacob (Wendy) Gaul of Clovis, CA
Daughter:  Alice (John) Smurthwaite of San Jose, CA
Grandchildren:  Hannah Dorn, Emily Toto, Jackson Gaul, Daniel Gaul, Brianna Gaul, Allison Gaul, Lindsey Gaul, Mollie Smurthwaite, and Emmett Gaul
Great-Grandchildren:  Hailey Dorn, Grace Dorn, Josie Toto, and Logan Toto.

A private memorial service for the couple will be held at the Wilson Family Cemetery in Lost Creek, TN.
