Mrs. Joyce Ruth Yates Gantt, age 68, a lifelong resident of Doyle, passed away Saturday morning April 23, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Joyce was born November 7, 1953 in Sparta to the late James Howard "Buck" and Francis Marylene Swack Yates. She was a former employee of the White County Court House working alongside her mother, Marylene, as custodian and then as a Deputy Clerk in Connie Jolley's office. Joyce was a member of Doyle Church of Christ who enjoyed camping at Rock Island and going on short evening trips with her late husband, Darrell Lynn Gantt who died on December 11, 2019. Above all else, her greatest joy in life was being Grannie to her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two daughters Jill Gantt Dean and Brandee Gantt Gifford and husband Jamey

Grandchildren: Trenton Dean, Alexis Dean and Christopher Leach

Siblings: Rickie Yates, Leisa Rene Yates and Diana Yates Carter

Nephews: James Yates, John Yates, Levi Yates, Cameron Carter and Caleb Carter

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Jamey Gifford, Cecil Yates, James Yates, Cameron Carter and Caleb Carter will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is John Yates.
