Mr. Julius C. Cunningham, age 74 of Cookeville, passed away at 5:50 pm Monday, August 2, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Julius was born November 25, 1946 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Julius Martin and Emma Violet Young Cunningham. He served his country in the United States Army as an x-ray tech and medic. Following his military career, his love of the outdoors led him to a career in carpentry. Julius was meticulous in everything he set out to do. That was evident in his pursuit of hobbies - earning his black belt in karate in 1987 and becoming an instructor at Jack Scott Karate; perfecting his archery skills and splitting an arrow with another arrow; learning to play classical guitar. His love of the outdoors included hunting, fishing and gardening. Above all else, Julius loved his wife and family.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a granddaughter Emma Kate Bernhardt; sister Lois Miller and her husband Avery.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Carolyn Davis Cunningham

Two daughters: Amanda Bernhardt and husband Rob, Samantha Cunningham

Grandchildren: Zane Maxwell, Carrie Maxwell, Shane Snell

Sister: Reba Frasier

Two nephews: Greg Frasier and Chris Frasier

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sparta Ward with burial in Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends after noon Thursday at the church.

Rob Bernhardt, Zane Maxwell, Jody Davis, Jeff Bernhardt, Alan Martin and Tony Maxwell will serve as pallbearers.
